The State Labor Inspection Service under the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population held a conference on the topic "Support for the development of labor conditions in liberated territories: the impact of the environment on labor safety" in Shusha.
Representatives from the government and non-governmental organizations, employers and employees took part in the conference. The event began with a minute of silence in memory of our martyrs, followed by the national anthem of Azerbaijan. A video presentation was shown regarding the awareness-raising activities conducted by the Service in the liberated territories.
Elshad Iskandarov, an employee of the Special Representation of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Shusha, opened the event with a speech highlighting the significance of the conference on the support for the development of labor conditions in liberated areas and the impact of the environment on labor safety.
The head of the State Labor Inspection Service, Vali Guliyev, informed about the awareness-raising efforts of the Service aimed at supporting the provision of decent labor in the liberated territories within the framework of the implementation of the “First State Program on the Great Return to the Liberated Territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan” approved by the Decree of the President Ilham Aliyev.
It was noted that since last year, special attention has been given to occupational safety and mine safety in events conducted in collaboration with Mine Action Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Small and Medium Business Development Agency, Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation, National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers) Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the State Employment Agency under the Ministry. It was mentioned that those events covered more than 200 employers and up to 5 thousand employees.
Next month, Azerbaijan will host the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, and in accordance with this mission, the President declared 2024 as the "Year of Solidarity for a Green World" in Azerbaijan. The impact of climate change on labor safety was emphasized, and it was noted that awareness-raising activities will cover this topic as well.
Regular monitoring is carried out through electronic systems to protect the labor rights of workers in the liberated territories.
During the conference, speeches were made by Jeyhun Rzayev, the Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Mine Action Agency, Samir Khumbatov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Small and Medium Business Development Agency, Javanshir Alkhasov, Deputy Chairman of the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation, Vugar Zeynalov, Vice-President of the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers) Organizations, Muhammad Fatih Alodali, Advisor on Labor and Social Protection of the Turkish Embassy in our country and Yashar Hamzayev, International Labour Organization coordinator for Azerbaijan.
The State Labor Inspection Service presented “Certificate of Appreciation” to several employers for their effective cooperation in the activities carried out in the liberated territories. A panel discussion on "Decent work: safe job and a guaranteed future" was held within the framework of the conference.
