The Labour Policy Department is a structural unit of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population of the Republic of Azerbaijan, provides activities related to the rights and duties of the Ministry in the field of labour relations, remuneration and occupational safety in the Republic within the scope of the powers granted by the Regulation of the Department. The department initiates norm-making in the field of labour relations, labour compensation and occupational safety, participates in the preparation of draft normative legal acts in accordance with the direction of activity, coordinates with relevant state bodies, as well as prepares draft international agreements between the Republic of Azerbaijan and other states, gives an opinion in accordance with its authority to the projects proposed by the other state bodies.
In its activities, the Department complies with the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan, international treaties to which the Republic of Azerbaijan is a party, the Labour Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On Civil Service" and other laws, the "Regulation on the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population of the Republic of Azerbaijan" and other decrees of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. and orders, decisions and orders of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan, orders of the Minister of Labour and Social Protection of the Population, decisions of the Board of the Ministry, other legislative acts, and Department’s Regulation.
While performing its duties and exercising its rights, the Department cooperates with other structural units of the Ministry's Office, subordinate institutions under the Ministry, as well as central and local executive power, local self-government bodies, unions of workers and employers and interacts with non-governmental organizations.
