Another social reform package from President Ilham Aliyev
New increases will be made in salaries, pensions, benefits and stipends.
The Order "On the continuation of measures to improve the social well-being of the population" dated December 23, 2024, signed by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, once again shows that the principle of ensuring the well-being of citizens is at the center of the policy of the head of state and that the social reforms carried out for this purpose are successfully continued.
According to the Order:
• From January 1, 2025, the minimum monthly wage in our country will increase from 345 manats to 400 manats with a 16 percent increase,
• From February 1, 2025, the minimum amount of labour pension will increase from 280 manats to 320 manats with a 14,3 percent increase.
Together with these increases, since the beginning of 2018, the minimum monthly wage has increased by 3,1 times, and the minimum pension by up to 3 times.
The new social reform package also includes an increase in other social payments. By Order, the Cabinet of Ministers will submit its proposals on increasing the amounts of social benefits and pensions to the President within 3 months.
In 2018-2024, there was a 5-fold increase in benefits and pension payments, and as can be seen, this growth dynamics will continue next year.
Also, by Order, the Cabinet of Ministers will ensure that monthly tariff (position) salaries in areas financed from the state budget are adjusted to the new increased amount of the minimum monthly wage.
Thus, in these areas (social, science, education, healthcare, culture, youth, sports, agriculture, ecology, environmental protection, housing and utilities, transportation, communication, reclamation, water management, etc.), the salary at the first level of the Unified Tariff Schedule, which consists of 19 levels, will be raised to 400 manats, and corresponding salary increases will be applied at other levels as well.
The next social reform package, which was launched with the new Order, will cover a total of 3 million people from the beginning of next year, taking into account the indexation and increase of pensions, and their salaries, pensions, benefits and stipends will be increased. An additional 1,4 billion manats will be allocated annually for these increases.
