The fourth Azerbaijan Career Development Forum is being held in our country, organized by the State Employment Agency under the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population.
The Forum, held under the slogan "From today's experience to tomorrow's challenges!", aims to discuss successful results in career development both in the country and globally, as well as global trends, modern approaches, the establishment of effective learning and teaching mechanisms in education, the importance and development of skills required in the labour market.
In his opening speech, Minister of Labour and Social Protection of Population Sahil Babayev highlighted that the core of the state policy implemented in Azerbaijan is citizen welfare, emphasizing that employment is the most crucial factor in ensuring human welfare in any country. He stated that one of the key directions in the process of ensuring employment is the continuous development of human resources in line with the demands of the evolving labour market and the ever-strengthening national economy.
The importance of providing decent work and employment within state programs and the steps taken in this regard were also highlighted. It was noted that from 2018 to 2024, the minimum wage has increased by 2,7 times, the average monthly wage has almost doubled, the wage fund has tripled, and the number of labour contracts has increased by 609000 over the past six years. In addition, 1,8 million citizens have received employment services, with over 600000 people employed, 36000 individuals involved in vocational training, and 120000 to 130000 upper-grade students receiving vocational services annually.
As part of the self-employment program, small enterprises have been established for 93000 citizens. The continuous expansion and increase of active employment programs were also emphasized as a key priority. The employment of people resettled from the liberated territories was mentioned, with the creation of skilled, competent, and adaptable human resources to meet the requirements of the labour market being underscored as a crucial factor in the employment process.
The digitalization of employment and labour services has improved accessibility for citizens. It was noted that more than 90% of the Ministry’s 160 services, or over 145 services, have been digitized. The electronic signing of labour contracts through the "Labour and Employment" subsystem platform was discussed, and it was mentioned that many of the Ministry's electronic projects have received international awards.
The Minister wished success for the Forum and expressed confidence that it would yield positive results.
A report video of the Azerbaijan Career Development Forum was published. Afterward, the official panel session of the Forum began. In the panel, moderated by the Chairman of the Board of the Agency, Sadig Aliyev, speakers including Minister Sahil Babayev, Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov, Chairperson of the Management Board of the State Examination Center Maleyka Abbaszadeh, Chairman of the Parliament’s Committee on Labour and Social Policy Musa Guliyev, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Economic Policy, Industry and Entrepreneurship Azer Amiraslanov, and Chairman of the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (KOBİA) Orkhan Mammadov spoke about the current situation in the labour market, effective learning mechanisms in education, and development paths, and answered questions.
Discussions will also be held in panels with local and international speakers on topics such as “From Education to Career: Innovative Solutions for the Future,” “Innovation, Collaboration, and Global Mobility,” and “Human Capital Development and Organizational Culture.”
