The "Employment Support Project" has received high international recognition, being honored with the 2024 Vice President Award from the World Bank for Europe and Central Asia. This prestigious award acknowledges initiatives that foster innovative development and enhance the social well-being of vulnerable groups.
Implemented by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population with World Bank funding, the project is a key element of President Ilham Aliyev's self-employment program. It plays a crucial role in supporting unemployed individuals, job seekers, and small businesses.
Launched in 2020, the "Employment Support Project" exemplifies the collaboration between the Ministry and the World Bank. Running from 2020 to 2025, the project aims to establish small businesses in production and service sectors for vulnerable groups, including persons with disabilities, families of martyrs, former internally displaced persons, and recipients of targeted social assistance.
The project aims to assist 22,000 unemployed individuals, with plans to reach over 25,000 beneficiaries by the end of 2025. It has already provided 23,000 participants with financial literacy training and entrepreneurial skills through the International Labor Organization's "Start and Improve Your Own Business" program.
Of these participants, 16,000 have received equipment for 26 different professions, allowing them to start their own small businesses. Successful entrepreneurs are also eligible for incentive awards to further support and expand their ventures.
The recognition of the "Employment Support Project" by the World Bank underscores the project's successful implementation and its positive impact on an international scale.
