Minister Sahil Babayev stated: "In recent years, the establishment and expansion of the vocational training network in the country, in line with modern requirements, become a sustainable process, and the development of workforce skills in accordance with changes in the labour market is one of the main priorities of our activities."
Experience shows that investment in human capital represents an investment in the current and future development of society for every country.
This was emphasized by the Minister of Labour and Social Protection of Population, Sahil Babayev, during a press conference held within the framework of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, hosted by our country.
The Minister highlighted the importance of creative approaches aimed at the development of human capital for the successful transition to a green economy, and noted that this transition process should take place in a fair and inclusive environment, ensuring the protection of social and labour rights.
He mentioned the successful reforms in the areas of labour, employment, and social protection carried out within the framework of the "Social and Economic Development Strategy of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2022–2026", which was approved by the President of our country.
S. Babayev stated that the document highlights the key priority of the strategic period, which is the establishment of a new growth model based on private initiatives, quality and healthy human capital, the creation of lifelong education opportunities for the requalification of competitive human capital, and the existing human resources.
The Minister noted that the establishment and expansion of the vocational training network in line with modern requirements has become a continuous process in recent years. He also pointed out that the transition to a green economy, driven by the application of green technologies, is shaping a new employment environment and changing the nature of many jobs. The development of human resources and workforce skills in accordance with the changes occurring in the labour market is one of the key areas of focus, and significant efforts are being made in this regard.
S.Babayev also mentioned that over the past six years, four social reform packages had been implemented, noting significant increases in social payments during this period. He emphasized that increasing social payments will remain one of the priority issues in the coming years.
