As part of the 29th session of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), hosted in our country, the event titled "Safeguarding the Sustainability of Human Development: Mobilizing Climate Finance for Social Protection" was held.
The event, held in partnership with the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), was attended by high-level officials from various countries and international organizations.
During the event, Anar Karimov, the Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Protection of Population, highlighted our country’s experience in ensuring human development and providing social support mechanisms for children and families from vulnerable groups. He also noted the social protection mechanisms developed and implemented during the pandemic and their positive outcomes.
The Deputy Minister emphasized the ongoing reforms aimed at the continuous improvement of the social security system and social services in our country. He stated that further development of the social protection system for vulnerable groups remains a priority in our government's policy, and continuous steps are being taken in this direction.
A.Karimov highlighted the importance of joint projects with UNICEF in improving social protection mechanisms for vulnerable groups.
High-level officials from various countries and international organizations delivered speeches at the event. Discussions were held on the crucial role of social protection in climate action, the orientation of climate finance to support vulnerable groups, the development of mechanisms to protect these individuals, as well as human development, from the impacts of climate change, and ensuring their inclusion in social protection systems.
