The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection met with Cristina Martinez, chief International Labour Organization (ILO) Technical Support Group for Decent Work specialist.
Anar Aliyev, deputy minister of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population, emphasized the importance of cooperation with the International Labour Organization in the fields of labor, employment, and social protection in our country. Over the past period, Azerbaijan has successfully acceded to 60 ILO conventions, implemented two Country Programs on Decent Work with the ILO, and is currently preparing a draft for the next Country Program on Decent Work.
It was emphasized that in November this year, our country will host the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29). It was noted that COP29 will be an important platform for advancing the ILO agenda. K. Martinez said that active cooperation between Azerbaijan and the ILO and successful joint projects are welcomed by the ILO.
At the meeting, views were exchanged on promoting a gender-sensitive transition to environmental sustainability, promoting social dialogue for the preparation of COP29, sharing experiences, and expanding partnerships and cooperation.
