Currently, the center provides training for nearly 160 beneficiaries from vulnerable groups, contributing to the development of an inclusive society.
Today marks three years since the opening of the DOST Center for Inclusive Development and Creativity, under the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population. Inaugurated on October 22, 2021, with the participation of President Ilham Aliyev, First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva and their daughter Leyla Aliyeva, the Center is the first and largest inclusive creativity and development space in the South Caucasus.
Founded on the initiative of First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva, the Center aims to support the development of talents and skills of people with disabilities, members of martyrs' families, children who lost their parents and deprived of parental care, and other individuals from vulnerable groups, as well as their rehabilitation and integration into society.
The Center consists of a 121-seat auditorium, various vocational and creative rooms and studios, a library, administrative offices, a cafeteria, and etc. It offers training in 14 different activity areas, including dance, visual arts, pottery, music, tailoring, fashion design, carpet weaving, knitting, artistic carving, culinary arts, stage performance, and etc.
Over the past period, the DOST Center for Inclusive Development and Creativity served nearly 580 individuals, and currently, about 160 beneficiaries from vulnerable groups are benefiting from training programs. Additionally, more than 100 events were organized at the Center to facilitate the integration of vulnerable groups into society.
Handicrafts of the Center's beneficiaries were displayed at 2 international events organized outside the country - at the exhibition of handiwork by young people with disabilities in the Gangwon Province of South Korea within the framework of the 4th Winter Olympic Games, as well as at the exposition dedicated to the World Autism Awareness Day on April 2 in the Palace of Nations in Geneva.
In addition to trainings in various creative directions, the Center also provides social pedagogical and psychological support services. During the current year, more than 1,400 social-pedagogical development and psychological support services were provided to people from vulnerable population groups at the DOST Center for Inclusive Development and Creativity.
In November last year, with the participation of President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva, the "DOST EVI" branch of the DOST Center for Inclusive Development and Creativity was opened in Ismayilli.
The branch, which serves to develop the creative potential of vulnerable groups living in the region and enhance their employment opportunities, has six workshops in ten areas: pottery, artistic carving, coppersmithing and jewelry, tailoring and kelaghayi, carpet weaving, knitting and artistic embroidery, and a bakery workshop.
