The ILO Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia got acquainted with DOST Services.
A meeting was held at Baku DOST Center No. 5 with Beate Andrees, the International Labour Organization (ILO) Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia, as part of her visit to Azerbaijan for the event titled “From vision to Practice for a Just Transition for All”, organized in cooperation with the ILO during COP29.
Mikhail Pushkin, the Director of ILO’s Moscow Office, and Yashar Hamzayev, the ILO’s National Coordinator in Azerbaijan, also attended the meeting. The guests were first introduced to the services offered at the DOST Center.
Minister of Labour and Social Protection of Population Sahil Babayev provided information on the DOST Agency and DOST Centers, established in accordance with the Decree of President Ilham Aliyev dated August 9, 2018. He emphasized the benefits of the DOST concept, which was initiated by First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva, and allows for social services to be provided through a "single window" approach, ensuring citizen satisfaction. He also highlighted the international successes of the DOST concept.
Presentations were made to the guests about the DOST concept and the extensive digitalization program implemented in the social sphere.
During the meeting, the importance of COP29, hosted by Azerbaijan, and the discussions on ensuring a just transition to a green economy were emphasized.
Sahil Babayev noted successful cooperation of our country with the ILO, emphasizing that the Azerbaijan ratified 9 out of 10 of the ILO’s fundamental Conventions and more than 60 of the Organization's Conventions overall. He mentioned that, in cooperation with the ILO, two Decent Work Country Programmes were successfully implemented, and the draft for the next Country Programme had been prepared.
The recent signing of a cooperation agreement between the ILO’s International Training Center in Turin, Italy, and the Labour Center of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, based in Baku, was also highlighted as significant for developing the cooperation. It was emphasized that, in the context of climate change, special importance was given to cooperation with this organization regarding a just transition in the labour market to a green economy.
Beate Andrees expressed her satisfaction with the ongoing and effective cooperation between Azerbaijan and the ILO in the process of reforms in the labour and employment sector. The meeting also focused on the future areas of cooperation related to green jobs and skills development in the context of the green economy transition.
