The Social Support Center under the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population continued "Box for newborn girls in order to prevent gender-based sex selection" project in Bilasuvar and Aghsu.
In those regions, families with newborn girls (born in July and August of this year) were presented with boxes containing baby supplies, hygiene products, a set of clothes, and educational instructions on childcare and early upbringing. The project covered a total of 60 families. The goal is to stimulate the prevention of gender selection of children before birth, and to provide support to families with newborn girls.
The project was successfully implemented in Shamakhi, Tovuz, Masalli, Tartar, Sabirabad, Gusar and Salyan and it is planned to be gradually carried out in other regions as well.
