The meeting with Saja Farooq Abdullah, the UNICEF Representative in Azerbaijan was held at the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population.
Anar Karimov, the Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population, emphasized the importance of collaboration with UNICEF in the areas of child protection, disability and inclusivity, and social protection for vulnerable children and families.
Reforms carried out in recent years in the direction of strengthening the childcare system, implementation of the "Foster family" care model were reported. The measures aimed at the reintegration of children from state childcare institutions into their families, as well as efforts to prevent children from falling those institutions, were highlighted.
The importance of joint projects in the mentioned fields, as well as in improving the skills of social workers and increasing employment opportunities for youth with disabilities, was noted. The work done on the basis of the Work Plan for 2024-2025 signed between the Ministry and UNICEF in June of this year was discussed.
S.F.Abdullah positively evaluated the reforms carried out in Azerbaijan's childcare system and the ongoing collaboration with UNICEF during this reform process.
The meeting also included discussions about an event planned for next month in Baku in cooperation with UNICEF, as part of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP29), as well as future directions of cooperation.
