The Ministry’s staff visited the grave of National Leader Heydar Aliyev in the Alley of Honor.
Today, the staff of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population visited the grave of the architect and founder of the modern independent Azerbaijani state, National Leader Heydar Aliyev, in the Alley of Honor and laid flowers at his grave. The grave of prominent ophthalmologist and academician Zarifa Aliyeva was also visited.
A commemorative event dedicated to National Leader Heydar Aliyev’s remembrance day was held at the Ministry. His bright memory was honored with deep respect and reverence.
Minister Anar Aliyev highlighted the invaluable historical contributions of National Leader Heydar Aliyev to the establishment and strengthening of modern independent Azerbaijan, the development of all sectors, and the country’s dignified place in the international community. It was noted that even in 1969–82, he ensured dynamic development across all sectors of the republic. It was emphasized that, responding to the call of the people, Heydar Aliyev returned to Azerbaijan’s leadership in June 1993, saving the country from the threat of losing state independence, civil conflict, widespread crisis, and chaos, and leading it onto the path of long-term development.
The event also noted that thanks to the special attention and care for the social sphere under the National Leader’s social development strategy, major steps were taken to strengthen social protection — between 1995 and 2003, the average monthly real wage increased 5.1 times, the average nominal wage grew more than 6 times, and the average pension and benefit amounts increased 8 times. It was also highlighted that Azerbaijan became the first among CIS countries to adopt a new Labour Code, the Demographic Development Concept, the Law “On Employment”, and several other social-sector legislative acts in line with the new socio-economic era, along with launching major social programs to support vulnerable groups.
It was stated that the wise and forward-looking policy of National Leader Heydar Aliyev has been successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev, ensuring Azerbaijan’s dynamic development across all sectors. In 2020, Azerbaijan achieved a historic Victory, liberating its lands from nearly 30 years of Armenian occupation and fully restoring territorial integrity and sovereignty.
It was also emphasized that social protection and active employment programs have expanded several times under the President’s instructions. Between 2018 and 2025, five social reform packages covering more than 4 million citizens were implemented, with 7.6 billion manats in additional annual funding allocated for these reforms, resulting in substantial increases in social payments.
The event continued with the screening of a film about National Leader Heydar Aliyev’s special attention and care for the social sphere.
