The socially significant project “Opportunities for Everyone” has been launched at the DOST Inclusive Development and Creativity Centre operating under the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population.
The project has been organised by the DOST Inclusive Development and Creativity Centre within the framework of the Azerbaijan Urban Campaign (#AUC2026), which is jointly initiated by the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) and the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture ahead of the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13).
A launch event dedicated to the start of the project was held at the Centre with the participation of representatives of state and private institutions, international organisations, persons with disabilities involved in the programme, as well as volunteer and trainee youth.
Participants of the event first familiarised themselves with an exhibition of handicrafts created by trainers and beneficiaries and observed the creative processes taking place in the Centre’s training studios.
Information was provided about the activities carried out at the Centre, established at the initiative of First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva, aimed at improving the skills and supporting the social adaptation of persons from vulnerable groups.
Deputy Director of the Centre Matanat Mammadova spoke about the main areas of activity of the institution and the work carried out to develop the creative potential of vulnerable groups involved in the training programmes.
Senior Adviser for Advocacy and Projects at the United Nations Human Settlements Programme Maleyka Taghizadeh noted that the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum highlights the development of cities that are more inclusive and accessible for everyone as one of the key directions of the global agenda.
The importance of the “Opportunities for Everyone” project in enabling persons with disabilities to gain real experience in the corporate working environment, facilitating their more active integration into the labour market, and promoting inclusive workplaces was emphasised.
Information was also provided about the equal opportunities and social support mechanisms created at the Centre, as well as the future prospects for cooperation with international partners in this field.
It was noted that starting from 10 March, a three-day short internship programme will be organised for up to 30 beneficiaries of the Centre aged between 15 and 29 with disabilities at state institutions, international organisations, and private companies. Through this programme, young people will have the opportunity to become familiar with real working environments and demonstrate their existing potential.
The closing ceremony of the project is planned to be held within the framework of the Baku Urban Week of WUF13.
