A meeting was held with members of the Public council under the Ministry at the State Medical-Social Expertise and Rehabilitation Agency under the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population.

At the meeting, Ramin Rzayev, Chairman of the Board of the Agency, provided information on the reforms implemented in our country in recent years in the fields of disability and rehabilitation. He highlighted the work carried out to modernise rehabilitation infrastructure and the alternative rehabilitation methods introduced on the basis of advanced international practices.

It was reported that the Agency had provided rehabilitation services to 103,000 persons with disabilities from January to September of this year. During the first nine months of the current year, 11,200 persons with disabilities were provided with 104,000 rehabilitation aids.

It was noted that, following the Patriotic War, which culminated in our glorious Victory, more than 3,600 war participants, as well as their family members and members of families of martyrs, had received rehabilitation and social-psychological services at the Agency’s rehabilitation centres. Thanks to the efforts of professional medical teams and the application of modern and effective rehabilitation methods, a large proportion of them have already regained their previous health and overcome their disabilities.

Elshad Mammadov, Chairperson of the Public council, and Council members shared their positive views on the modern rehabilitation system established in our country, reforms in the field of disability, rehabilitation services and aids provided to persons with war-related disabilities, and, in particular, the work carried out to provide them with latest-generation prostheses.

During the meeting, an exchange of views took place on the reforms implemented in the fields of disability and rehabilitation and the work carried out in disability assessment. The opinions and proposals of representatives of civil society institutions were heard.
