Transfer of ownership of a passenger car

After the death of a person with a disability who received a passenger car free of charge, the car remains the property of the family and is deregistered by being transferred into the name of one of the deceased person’s family members.

For the transfer of ownership of a passenger car provided by the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population, the following documents are requested to be submitted:

  1. a notarised copy of the death certificate of the privileged person who received the passenger car;
  2. a notarised copy of the vehicle registration certificate of the passenger car;
  3. a written application of the heir who will take ownership of the passenger car and a notarised copy of their identity card;
  4. a nominal list of the heirs of the deceased person (in the form of an approved certificate), their written applications, and notarised copies of their identity cards.

Pursuant to subparagraph 3.9 of the Rules of the above-mentioned decision, persons with disabilities are not entitled to sell or donate the vehicle. The right to drive the passenger car is granted both to the person with a disability and to a family member living together with them in the same place of residence who holds a valid driving licence.
