Working women are entitled to 126 calendar days of paid maternity leave during pregnancy and after childbirth, consisting of 70 calendar days before childbirth and 56 calendar days after childbirth.

The prenatal portion of this leave is extended with pay by the number of days between the expected date of childbirth and the actual date of birth. In such cases, the postnatal leave period is not reduced.

Women who adopt a child under the age of two months are also entitled to the 56-day paid social leave granted after childbirth.

Fathers are entitled to a total of 14 calendar days of paid leave before and after childbirth, based on a medical certificate issued by a healthcare institution.

One of the parents directly caring for a child (including women who have adopted a child), or another family member, is entitled to partially paid social leave until the child reaches the age of three. During this period, the individual receives an allowance in the amount prescribed by legislation.
