Working under a labour contract grants employees a number of important rights. It ensures their coverage by mandatory social insurance, compulsory health insurance, unemployment insurance, and compulsory insurance against occupational accidents, while also enabling them to benefit from social protection guarantees.
In addition, employees working under a labour contract have the right to work in safe and healthy conditions, work within the hours established by legislation, receive wages not lower than the minimum amount set by law, enjoy rest days and paid leave, and improve their professional qualifications.
They may obtain certificates from their employer regarding their workplace, position, salary, and other employment-related information, as well as access their labour contract and employment records in real time through the electronic information system.
Among the fundamental rights of employees under a labour contract are the right to claim compensation for damage caused to their health or property during employment and the right to apply to the employer regarding amendments to or termination of the labour contract.
It should be noted that the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan has declared the period from May 18 to June 18 as “Human Rights Month.”
