A meeting of the Working Group on Inclusive Social Development and Social Protection was held in connection with the implementation of the targets envisaged in the “Socio-Economic Development Strategy of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2022–2026”.
Held in a videoconference format, the meeting was dedicated to the discussion of the report on the monitoring and evaluation of the work carried out during 2025 under the Strategy’s objectives of “Ensuring that every citizen benefits from development” and “High and fair social protection”.
The Chair of the Working Group, Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Protection of the Population Vusal Nasirli, noted that another social reform package was implemented in 2025, and that since 2018 this has been the fifth such package. He emphasized that the upward dynamics of social payments and measures to strengthen the social protection system were successfully continued last year as well.
Elnur Alakbarov, Head of the Economic Analysis Department at the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication, presented a report on the work carried out in 2025 under the objectives of “Ensuring that every citizen benefits from development” and “High and fair social protection in an inclusive society” within the framework of the “Socio-Economic Development Strategy of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2022–2026”.
Discussions were held and proposals were voiced regarding the work carried out in areas such as improving the wage system, stimulating the development of employment in the private sector, increasing the efficiency of employment, creating additional opportunities for the social protection of low-income and poverty-vulnerable groups, ensuring the financial sustainability of the pension system and expanding the coverage of state support for pensioners, as well as increasing the provision of sustainable social services for socially vulnerable population groups.
