In recent years, social reforms have also covered the field of disability assessment. The disability assessment system has been fully digitalised, and both applications for disability assessment and the evaluation process are carried out entirely through an electronic infrastructure.
Based on referrals submitted by medical institutions, disability assessments are conducted transparently and objectively through the electronic system and based solely on the diagnosis included in the referral, without identifying the person or the institution from which the referral was sent.
At the same time, new disability assessment criteria were adopted in 2022. Along with a number of advantages for citizens, these criteria made it possible to increase fivefold the number of diseases serving as grounds for disability determination and 5.6 times the number of criteria serving as grounds for permanent disability status.
This topic will also be discussed in the next episode of “Social Hour”, which will be broadcast live on DOST TV on May 21 at 11:30. Ilkin Yusifov, Deputy Head of the Department for Organisation of Medical-Social Expertise Services at the State Medical-Social Expertise and Rehabilitation Agency under the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population, will provide detailed information on the subject and answer viewers’ questions.
