The final stage of the 7th Nationwide Table Sports Competition for persons with disabilities was held by the Social Services Agency under the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population.
The competitions, organized at the Azerbaijan Sports Academy, brought together 246 persons with disabilities from across the country, of whom 80 participants advanced to the final stage.
The competitions were held in five sports disciplines (chess, checkers, backgammon, table tennis, and arm wrestling). No age restrictions were applied, and some of the participants were children with disabilities.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Protection of the Population Anar Bayramov emphasized that such competitions aim to increase interest among persons with disabilities in sports and table games, reveal their athletic potential, and promote their more active integration into society.
He noted that the state regularly implements measures to encourage participation of this category of persons in sports and to support their skills, contributing to the strengthening of inclusive values.
Rector of the Azerbaijan Sports Academy Fuad Hajiyev stated that the Academy carries out long-term projects to develop such initiatives and enhance sports knowledge among persons with disabilities, continuing its efforts to ensure inclusiveness in sports.
The winners of the final competitions were awarded and presented with prizes.
