Within the framework of the “Social Work in Education” service implemented by the Social Services Agency under the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population, social workers visited a total of 1,349 schools during the previous period.
Implemented since 2023 in cooperation with the State Agency for Preschool and General Education under the Ministry of Science and Education, the service focuses on identifying children at risk of difficult living conditions and carrying out social and psychological work with them.
During the reporting period, initial assessments were conducted with 5,399 children at schools. Detailed assessments were carried out through visits to the families of 2,036 children considered to be at higher risk. As a result, socially oriented work was conducted with these families, and the school attendance of 460 children from risk groups was restored.
Neglected and homeless children were placed in relevant Children’s Home Social Service Institutions of the Agency, while some were directed to individual education. In addition, 123 children with speech and communication difficulties were referred to speech therapy services. A total of 124 families were referred to relevant institutions operating under the Ministry to support the resolution of their social problems.
Furthermore, awareness-raising meetings on various topics such as children’s rights, family values, early marriage, domestic violence, harmful habits and mental health protection were organised in nearly 190 general education institutions in Baku and the regions during the reporting period.
The activities carried out within the “Social Work in Education” service aim to promote attention and care for children, prevent abuse and violence against them, and increase awareness in this field.
