Fuad Heydarov, Head of the Labour Policy Department of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population, and Azer Rahimov, Deputy Head of the State Labour Inspectorate Service under the Ministry, participated in the VI Global Conference on the Elimination of Child Labour held in Morocco.
Organised by the International Labour Organization, the Conference brought together government representatives, employers’ and workers’ organisations, as well as international partners to accelerate efforts towards eliminating all forms of child labour.
During discussions held within the framework of the event, the Ministry’s representatives provided information on the work carried out in the country to strengthen the legal framework aimed at preventing child labour, improve labour inspection mechanisms, and expand social protection measures.
National experience in promoting equal opportunities in labour relations and protecting children’s rights through coordinated state policy was highlighted. It was also noted that successful cooperation continues with the International Labour Organization and other reputable international partners in the effective protection of children’s rights and the promotion of decent work for all.
At the Conference, where global challenges were discussed, advanced practices in the elimination of child labour were exchanged. Commitments to international labour standards, including the ILO fundamental Conventions on the “Minimum Age for Admission to Employment” and on the “Worst Forms of Child Labour,” were once again emphasised.
The importance of inclusive policies, access to quality education, and international cooperation as one of the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations was underlined.
