A meeting of the "Commission for preparing proposals on the establishment of the labour migration quota and coordinating work in this area" was held under the chairmanship of the Minister of Labour and Social Protection of Population, Sahil Babayev.
The meeting discussed the current status of the approved labour migration quota for 2024 and proposals for the labour migration quota for 2025, with the participation of Commission members representing relevant state institutions.
S.Babayev emphasized that the successful socio-economic policy of President Ilham Aliyev has enabled the development trends in the country's labour market to become sustainable.
It was noted that the proposals for the labour migration quota for the upcoming year are based on the growing diversity in the national economy and the demand from employers for workers with various modern professions and skills. Additionally, the analysis of the incoming labour force and other labour market forecasts were taken into account.
The increase in the number of skilled workers entering the labour market every year, as well as the measures taken to improve the skills and competitiveness of the existing workforce, were highlighted. It was discussed that in 2025, the demand for foreign labour should be determined based on the decreasing trend, with a focus on replacing foreign skilled workers with national labour reserves.
The meeting also reviewed the implementation of planned projects, the involvement of foreign specialists in mining, scientific and technical activities, construction, and large-scale construction work in the liberated areas.
At the conclusion of the discussions, it was decided to submit proposals for the 2025 labour migration quota, as well as the proposed changes to the approved labour migration quota for 2024, to the Cabinet of Ministers for consideration.
