A meeting was held at the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population with a delegation led by Kristin Engstrom, Director General of the Sectors Group 3 Department of the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
Minister of Labour and Social Protection of Population Anar Aliyev noted the effective cooperation between the Ministry and the ADB in the fields of labour, employment and social protection, and highlighted the importance of joint projects implemented during the previous period.
It was stated that positive outcomes had been achieved within the framework of one such project titled “Strengthening the Asian Development Bank’s Support for Social Protection to Achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.” The significance of the ADB’s 2025–2029 Country Partnership Strategy and its role in creating opportunities for expanding cooperation into new areas were also emphasised.
Information was provided on the achievements of social reforms implemented in recent years in Azerbaijan, the advantages of the DOST Concept, the implementation of active employment programmes, workforce skills development and the broad application of digital solutions in the social sphere. Recent amendments to the country’s labour legislation and reforms carried out within the compulsory health insurance system were also highlighted.
Kristin Engstrom stated that the ADB is interested in continuing and expanding cooperation with the Ministry. During the meeting, possibilities for implementing new joint projects between the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population and the ADB were discussed.
