Currently, there are 6,800 persons with disabilities diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder in the country. Rehabilitation centers of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population provide services aimed at supporting their development in line with their potential and enhancing their ability to live independently.
At these centers, individuals receive services in areas such as cognitive development, speech therapy, and self-care skills, including support from psychologists and speech therapists, as well as therapies such as ergotherapy, yoga, hippotherapy, and dance ability (dance therapy).
In addition to outpatient services, rehabilitation is also provided through community-based, telerehabilitation, and mobile service formats.
Children with autism spectrum disorder are also engaged in hippotherapy (therapy with horses). This method has a positive impact on the social, psychological, and physiotherapeutic rehabilitation of children with autism, as well as those with Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, speech impairments, and other conditions.
