The expansion of the social services network, including day care centers, will continue.
An infosession dedicated to the activities of the Social Services Agency and the Social Support Center under the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population was held.
Minister of Labour and Social Protection of Population, Anar Aliyev highlighted that reforms have been carried out in the social services system in recent years and mentioned the consistent work done in the implementation of the " State Program for the Development of Social Services in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2023-2026" approved by President Ilham Aliyev.
The expansion of social services, increasing access to services for vulnerable groups, the formation of a qualified workforce in this field, and the application of innovative solutions were noted as key goals.
It was reported that last year, 3356 people were served at 21 social service institutions under the Social Services Agency, and within the framework of projects implemented according to social orders, 15800 people were provided with rehabilitation-focused social services. Moreover, over the past year, the Agency provided social and domestic services to more than 4500 lonely elderly people and people with disabilities in their homes, and conducted social rehabilitation work with 271 returnees.
Services provided to victims of domestic violence, individuals released from penitentiary institutions, and other vulnerable groups, as well as the implementation of adoption and the "Foster Family" care model, were also discussed.
Currently, five social service centers are operational in Baku, Sumgayit, and Absheron. It was mentioned that this year, five more social service centers will be established in the capital and regions, and new day care centers will be created in several regions. The "Social Work Management" electronic system, which is under development, is planned to be launched this year.
The Social Support Center discussed the projects carried out for families of martyrs, graduates of state orphanages, elderly and disabled people, and other vulnerable groups. The Center's work in the areas of combating gender-based discrimination and preventing domestic violence was highlighted.
It was also emphasized that the Social Support Center continues its reintegration-oriented activities. The organization's multi-functional interventions in organizing social pedagogical work with difficult-to-educate children and improving parenting skills, as well as projects supporting the education of children from low-income families, were mentioned.
The work done in these areas and the tasks ahead were discussed during the infosession.
