Within the framework of the Azerbaijan Urban Development Campaign, the “Opportunities for Everyone” social project organised by the DOST Inclusive Development and Creativity Centre under the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population continues to provide internship programmes for young persons with disabilities in various fields.
This time, practical training opportunities were created for 25 young participants aged 18–35 in the areas of environmental monitoring, hydrometeorological services, architecture, design, urban planning, organisation of international events, communication and modern telecommunications.
The participants gained the opportunity to improve their professional knowledge and skills by working in real professional environments within various public and private institutions.
Certificates were presented to project participants who completed internship programmes at the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, WUF13 Azerbaijan Operating Company, Nar and Design Bureau LLC.
As an important component of the programme, the young participants also held a meeting at the UN Headquarters in Azerbaijan. During the meeting, information was provided about the activities of UN agencies, and an awareness session was organised on inclusivity, integration of persons with disabilities into the labour market and professional development opportunities for youth.
The events were attended by Adviser to the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Rustam Hasanov, Director of the DOST Inclusive Development and Creativity Centre Elnara Ansari, Deputy Executive Director of WUF13 Azerbaijan Operating Company Vusal Karimli, Chief Executive Officer of Nar Ozgur Genc, UN Resident Coordinator ad interim in Azerbaijan Igor Garfulic, Head of UN-Habitat in Azerbaijan Anna Soave, Chief Adviser of UN-Habitat Maleyka Taghizada and Director of Design Bureau LLC Fuzuli Aliyev.
During the speeches, it was noted that building an inclusive society is possible not only through social support mechanisms, but also through creating real development opportunities for persons with disabilities and encouraging their participation in professional environments. It was emphasised that the internship opportunities created within the project help reveal the potential of young persons with disabilities and contribute to their integration into the labour market.
At the end of the events, certificates were presented by the relevant institutions to young participants who completed internship programmes in various fields.
