Nearly 1,000 people have benefited from the “Let Us Be Your Voice” online sign language interpretation service provided by the Social Services Agency under the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population during the first year since its launch.

Introduced for the first time in Azerbaijan in July last year, the service facilitates communication by conveying requests from persons with hearing and speech impairments to third parties, including public institutions and private sector organisations.

Through the service, an operator proficient in sign language acts as a virtual bridge between the person with hearing and speech impairments and the relevant institution, providing real-time online sign language interpretation.

It should be noted that this inclusive service has been recognised by the World Health Organization (WHO) as one of the best practices in the European Region. The “Let Us Be Your Voice” service has also been included in a WHO publication highlighting successful practices in ensuring accessibility, inclusiveness, enabling environments, and social integration for persons with disabilities across the WHO European Region.

Citizens wishing to use the service may access it through the “mygov” application or contact the service via WhatsApp or Telegram at +994 55 213 19 97. The service operates six days a week, from Monday to Saturday, between 09:00 and 16:00, excluding Sundays.
