A meeting was held at the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population with Darko Dochinski, the new Chief Specialist for Occupational Safety and Health at the International Labour Organization (ILO) Office for Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
Anar Karimov, Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Protection of Population noted the successful cooperation experience between Azerbaijan and the ILO in recent years and mentioned that Azerbaijan has joined nearly 60 ILO Conventions. He also emphasized that two Decent Work Country Programmes had been successfully implemented in cooperation with the ILO and the next Country Program project is being prepared.
It was highlighted that ensuring decent work is a crucial part of Azerbaijan's state policy. The steps taken in the field of labour and employment reforms, occupational safety, and the improvement of the state control system for compliance with labour standards and labour legislation were discussed.
Support measures for employers by the Occupational Safety Center under the State Labour Inspectorate Service of the Ministry were mentioned. The activities of the Labour Center of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) based in Baku were also discussed, with emphasis on the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Center and the ILO International Training Center and the importance of close cooperation between the two Centers.
The meeting also involved an exchange of views on future cooperation in the field of occupational safety and health.
