A meeting on the topic “Development of the Foster Family Institution” was held with the participation of members of the Public Council under the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population and representatives of other non-governmental organisations.
During the meeting, a presentation on the foster family institution was delivered. Heads of relevant structural units of the Ministry and the Social Services Agency under the Ministry spoke about the significance of the “Foster Family” care model. It was emphasised that this model, which is one of the widely applied child care practices worldwide, aims to ensure that children deprived of parental care grow up and develop in a family environment under state supervision.
Member of the Public Council Zulfiya Nuriyeva spoke about ensuring public participation in the organisation of social protection measures implemented by the Ministry, as well as in the implementation of the “Foster Family” care model. She highlighted the importance of the work carried out in this field and of such meetings being held regularly.
Other NGO representatives also shared their opinions and proposals on the topic. During the discussions, issues such as the selection of foster families, strengthening public awareness, improving service quality and developing partnership mechanisms were among the main topics of focus.
