One of the key directions of the state employment policy is supporting the integration of young people into the labour market and ensuring their employment.
As a continuation of efforts in this area, last year the State Employment Agency under the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population provided suitable jobs for an additional 72.6 thousand young people.
The self-employment programme also plays an important role in expanding young people’s access to small entrepreneurship. Over the past year, within the framework of this programme, assets were provided to 2,500 young people, enabling the establishment of small businesses across various fields of economic activity. Nearly 9,500 young people were involved in the Agency’s vocational training courses and acquired professions aligned with the demands of the modern labour market.
Support for raising awareness among young people about professions in demand in the modern labour market and assisting them in making informed career choices also remains in focus. Last year, for this purpose, 343 thousand people, the majority of whom were young, were covered by career guidance services.
In addition, “ProfessionFest” events under the slogan “Learn a profession, build your future!” continued successfully in the capital and regions to support young people in making the right career choices and taking correct steps in their career paths.
To support youth employment, the Agency organizes webinars, conferences, career exhibitions, and job fairs for young people in Baku and the regions, and operates the “Alo karyera” support service. During these events, young people receive information on career planning, correct selection of specialties/professions, job search methods, CV and motivation letter preparation, interview skills, and related topics.
In recent years, with the joint support of the State Employment Agency and the Small and Medium Business Development Agency, the “Mobile Coffee Houses” project has also been implemented. Within the framework of this project, small mobile coffee sales businesses have been established for young people wishing to work as baristas.
