According to new laws adopted by the Milli Majlis, compulsory insurance for cases of loss of professional work capacity due to workplace accidents and occupational diseases for employees in the public sector will be carried out through the State Social Defence Fund (SSDF).
Amendments have been made to the “On Compulsory Insurance for Loss of Professional Work Capacity Due to Workplace Accidents and Occupational Diseases” and the “On Insurance Activities” laws in connection with this.
Currently, compulsory insurance for all employees is carried out through private insurance companies.
The new amendments introduce a dual system in this area:
- Compulsory insurance for employees in the public sector will be implemented through the SSDF.
- Employees in other sectors will continue to be insured through private insurance companies.
Accordingly, in relevant cases, insurance payments will be made by the SSDF for the public and municipal sectors, and through private insurance companies for other sectors.
