Each of them is a Paralympic Games champion.

As previously reported, by an Order of President Ilham Aliyev, four of our Paralympians — Elvin Amrah oglu Astanov, Ramil Famil oglu Gasimov, Parvin Rasim oglu Mammadov and Oloxan Isayevich Musayev — were awarded the “Progress” Medal for their services to the development of sports and the Paralympic movement in Azerbaijan on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the National Paralympic Committee.

They are athletes who have achieved success at the Paralympic Games and World and European Championships, represented Azerbaijan at the highest level, and secured outstanding victories.

Elvin Astanov, a professional athlete in the shot put discipline of para athletics, has distinguished himself through numerous sporting achievements. He is the champion of the Tokyo 2020 Summer Paralympic Games and a European champion.

Ramil Gasimov, who has achieved success in para judo through his determined performances on numerous occasions, is the champion of the Rio 2016 Summer Paralympic Games, a world champion and a two-time European champion.

Parvin Mammadov is a bronze medallist at the Tokyo 2020 Summer Paralympic Games in para powerlifting and a European champion. He is the first and, to date, the only Azerbaijani Paralympian to win a medal in this sport at the Paralympic Games.

Oloxan Musayev is the champion of the Beijing 2008 Summer Paralympic Games and a European champion in the shot put discipline of para athletics.

We are proud of our Paralympians. We congratulate them on receiving awards from the head of state and wish them many more achievements and victories.
