A meeting was held at the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population with the new Country Director for Azerbaijan of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Sunniya Durrani-Jamal.
Minister of Labour and Social Protection of Population, Anar Aliyev, highlighted the successful cooperation experience between Azerbaijan and ADB, emphasizing the importance of joint projects in the areas of labour and social protection.
The significance of collaboration within the framework of the “Enhancing ADB’s Support for Social Protection to Achieve the Sustainable Development Goals” project was discussed. The achievements of the ongoing reforms in labour, employment, and social protection in Azerbaijan were also addressed.
Information was provided on the successes achieved in the digitalization of state social services and active labour market programs. Efforts to organize vocational training to enhance the skills of the workforce in line with labour market demands were also highlighted.
Sunniya Durrani-Jamal emphasized the positive results of the collaboration and expressed determination to continue the successful partnership through new projects in the future.
The meeting also involved discussions on future cooperation in labour, employment, and social protection, as well as ADB's regional technical assistance project on "Enhancing Social Protection Potential in the Central and Western Asia Region."
