An event titled “Heydar Aliyev as the Author of the Social Development Strategy” was held to mark the 103rd anniversary of the birth of National Leader Heydar Aliyev.
The event, jointly organised by the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population and the New Azerbaijan Party (YAP), was attended by Minister Anar Aliyev, Deputy Chairman of YAP and Head of its Central Office Tahir Budagov, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Labour and Social Policy Musa Guliyev, Chairman of YAP Yasamal District Organisation Bakhtiyar Nabiyev, member of the YAP Veterans Council, academician Misir Mardanov, and others.
Participants of the event, held at the DOST Inclusive Development and Creativity Centre, ознакомились with an exhibition reflecting various periods of Heydar Aliyev’s life and activity, as well as handicrafts dedicated to the National Leader created by the Centre’s beneficiaries.
In his speech, Anar Aliyev highlighted the exceptional historical services of National Leader Heydar Aliyev in the establishment and development of the modern independent Azerbaijani state. He noted that the National Leader defined the welfare of citizens as one of the main priorities of state policy. Between 1993 and 2003, more than 60 documents were signed to ensure social development. During that period, the average monthly amount of pensions and benefits increased eightfold, and the average monthly wage increased more than sixfold.
Thanks to the successful continuation of Heydar Aliyev’s policy by President Ilham Aliyev, Azerbaijan has achieved significant progress and a historic Victory. Important steps are also being taken in the social sphere, and over the past seven years, five major social reform packages have led to substantial increases in social payments.
Tahir Budagov noted that after returning to power in 1993 at the insistence of the people, Heydar Aliyev first ensured the elimination of the deep socio-economic crisis and laid the foundation for fundamental social reforms. The 1995 Constitution defined ensuring a достойный standard of living for citizens as a supreme goal of the state.
It was emphasised that the New Azerbaijan Party, founded by the National Leader, continues to serve the people and the state, playing a significant role in the country’s dynamic development under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev.
Musa Guliyev and Misir Mardanov also highlighted the National Leader’s contributions to social protection and the development of the national education system.
At the end of the event, party membership cards were presented to 64 employees of the Ministry. It was noted that nearly 5500 employees within the Ministry system are members of YAP.
An inclusive concert programme performed by the beneficiaries of the DOST Inclusive Development and Creativity Centre was also presented.
