The official website of the Equal Pay International Coalition (EPIC) has published information on the reforms carried out in Azerbaijan in recent years to improve labour legislation in line with international standards and to ensure gender equality in labour relations.
The publication particularly highlights recent amendments to national legislation that guarantee equal pay for employees performing the same work or different work of equal value, regardless of gender. It notes that this measure contributes to reducing gender-based inequalities, supports inclusive economic growth, and promotes fair and transparent wage-setting practices.
The publication also highly appreciates the efforts undertaken in recent years to support women’s participation in the labour market and expand their employment opportunities. It states that, as a result of legislative reforms related to women’s employment, Azerbaijan improved its score in the World Bank’s 2024 Women, Business and the Law report from 78.8 to 85. It is further noted that the World Bank’s 2026 report recognized these reforms as one of the best practices in addressing gender-based discrimination.
Led by the International Labour Organization (ILO), UN Women, and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), EPIC brings together around 80 member countries, including Azerbaijan. The coalition promotes and advocates the principle of equal pay between women and men worldwide and provides governments and relevant organizations with expert support in this area.
