One of the priority directions of the active employment measures implemented by the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population is the development of professional skills among the population engaged in the agrarian sector and the promotion of self-employment among unemployed and job-seeking individuals.
This was stated by the Minister of Labour and Social Protection of Population, Anar Aliyev, at the opening ceremony of the Agrarian Business Festival held in the Jalilabad district.
He highlighted the achievements of the consecutive social reforms carried out in recent years under the instructions of President Ilham Aliyev. The Minister noted that these reforms have enabled significant increases in social payments, the expansion of social protection mechanisms, and the organisation of state services in an operational, transparent, and citizen-centered manner.
Anar Aliyev also spoke about the active employment measures implemented by the Ministry in the agrarian sector. He stated that to enhance the professional knowledge and skills of those working in agriculture and to provide unemployed and job-seeking individuals with new professional competencies in the agrarian field, the Ministry organises more than 30 vocational training courses.
A total of 128 occupational and qualification standards related to the agrarian sector have been developed. These standards aim to prepare a workforce in accordance with the requirements of the international labour market, improve professional skills, and facilitate the selection of qualified personnel for employers.
Over the past five years, 65% of participants in the self-employment programme have established small agrarian enterprises under the programme. Anar Aliyev noted that more than 110,000 individuals have been involved in the self-employment programme to date. He also emphasized that efforts continue to expand sustainable and formal employment in the agrarian sector.
It should be noted that at the Agrarian Business Festival, certificates of appreciation were presented to representatives of various institutions and organisations for their active participation and support in organising the event.
Additionally, participants of the event met with attendees of the “Bootcamp” programme organised at the Jalilabad State Vocational Education Centre within the framework of the project “Application of Artificial Intelligence in Precision Agriculture.” The “Bootcamp” participants presented their projects and discussed opportunities for applying innovative technologies in the agrarian sector.
