The Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Azerbaijan, Lu Mei, visited the 1st social service institution for children with disabilities under the Social Services Agency of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population and met with the children.
The event was attended by MP Soltan Mammadov, Head of the International Relations Department of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Elshen Salahov, Head of the Khazar District Executive Authority, and Faiq Agayev, Deputy Chairman of the Agency’s Board.
The guests were briefed on the Agency’s and the institution’s activities, the range of services provided, and the rehabilitation process. It was noted that currently around 150 children receive inpatient social rehabilitation services at the institution.
The Ambassador spoke with the children with disabilities and presented them with gifts. He expressed his high appreciation for the special attention and care provided to vulnerable groups in Azerbaijan. Lu Mei also highlighted the importance of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation’s projects dedicated to vulnerable groups, including children with disabilities.
It should be noted that the Social Services Agency operates two social service institutions for children with disabilities, where 285 children in need of special care are under state protection. These institutions carry out work on the social rehabilitation and adaptation of children, organizing their leisure time efficiently and supporting their integration into society.
