A conference on "Heydar Aliyev and reliable guarantee of labor rights in Azerbaijan" was held under the organization of the State Labor Inspection Service under the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population in connection with the 100th anniversary of the birth of national leader Heydar Aliyev.
Representatives of governmental and non-governmental organizations, international organizations, civil society institutions and employers participated in the event.
The conference started with the screening of a video clip about the services of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev in the field of building and developing the social protection system in our country.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population Anar Karimov emphasized that the social development strategy of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev, the architect and founder of the independent state of Azerbaijan, enabled the establishment of the social protection system in our country and its strengthening year by year.
According to the Decree of the Great Leader dated January 27, 1997, which defines the protection of the labor rights of every working person as one of the important duties before the state, the State Labor Inspectorate under the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population, the current State Labor Inspection Service was established. With the law signed by him in 1999, the Labor Code was approved for the first time in the CIS region in accordance with the new era of socio-economic relations in Azerbaijan.
It was emphasized that the successful domestic and foreign policy of the national leader Heydar Aliyev was continued and developed at a high level by President Ilham Aliyev, and the reforms carried out in the social field in our country were brought to the attention of the head of state.
Particularly, it was noted that 4 social reform packages were implemented in the last 5 years, significant increases in social payments during that period, as well as a 2.7 times increase in the minimum wage, 60 percent in the average monthly wage, 2.1 times in the median wage, and a 2.5 times increase in the wage fund.
At the conference, Javanshir Alkhasov, vice-chairman of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Azerbaijan, Vugar Zeynalov, vice-president of the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers) Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Vugar Zeynalov, as well as the video address of ILO division head Yoaquim Pintado Nunes, the speech of ILO coordinator for Azerbaijan Yashar Hamzayev, spoke at the conference.
Awards were presented to employers with positive experience in the field of labor protection and NGOs that contributed to public awareness of labor and social rights.
A video on "Heydar Aliyev and the establishment of a state control system for compliance with labor legislation in Azerbaijan" was shown at the first panel meeting.
Discussions were held on the work carried out in the field of improving the labor legislation, the reforms carried out in the field of state control of compliance with the labor legislation at the meeting. The conference ended with the second panel meeting devoted to labor protection issues.
