The Technical Committee on Standardisation in the Field of Labour, chaired by the State Labour Inspectorate Service under the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population, developed and approved 167 state standards on occupational safety during 2024–2025.
These standards comply with the requirements of the International Labour Organization’s Convention No. 155 on Occupational Safety and Health and aim to strengthen a systematic approach to occupational safety, ensure safe and healthy working conditions, and improve safety rules based on international best practices.
For example, one of these standards, AZS ISO 45001 on Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems, provides for the identification of potential risks in advance and the implementation of preventive measures through a systematic approach. It also requires management involvement and employee participation in safety-related decisions.
It is planned to develop and adopt an additional 60 new state standards on occupational safety this year.
